Soapbox Derby is a weekly half-hour program featuring in-depth discussions on topics ranging from city politics to international news with political and cultural experts. The show is researched, hosted, produced and engineered by Jesse Townley, Lars Skjerping, Lee Cressey and Loretta Gaines.

Soapbox Derby is a production of KALX Berkeley 90.7 FM on the University of California at Berkeley campus.

Every Thursday evening from 9-930pm the show is broadcast live in 500 watts of stereo locally and is streamed all over the world in multiple bitrates at http://kalx.berkeley.edu.

Tonight on SBD - A Different Way to Occupy City Hall: Participatory Budgeting in Venezuela

Guest: Gabriel Hetland, PhD candidate, UC Berkeley, Department of Sociology. His dissertation research focuses on participatory budgeting in Venezuela and Bolivia. Since November he has been a core member of the Community Democracy Project.

Gabriel will be speaking this weekend at Green Sundays on this topic and how it relates to the current occupy movement.
